Bop It In the Rocket celebrates the excitement of going on a journey. Whether it is flying to the moon, travelling on the “blues train”, bus, tractor, magic carpet, ship or aeroplane, this CD opens up the wonderful world of the imagination. Bop It In the Rocket incorporates a wide range of musical styles including Latin American and the Blues and introduces children to instruments from the trumpet to the cor anglais. Top musicians are joined by children singing brand new as well as favourite old songs. This CD also features arrangements by outstanding young composer Michael Bell.

Research shows that singing, moving, and interactive musical play supports children’s development. When parents and teachers play with children using music it can contribute to the development of healthy brains because it impacts on the child’s emotion, attention skills, behaviour, communication and rounded learning. This CD promotes numeracy and literacy and is designed to foster listening, creativity and interactive musical play.

Julie Wylie’s work in the field of early childhood music and special education is internationally recognised. Her music philosophy has helped parents, teachers, therapists and other professionals use music effectively with children and has seen her in constant demand to present all over New Zealand and in Australia, England, Wales, Lithuania, Finland, Estonia, Korea, Japan and Italy. Julie Wylie is the founder of the Canterbury Musical Parenting Association. The Julie Wylie School of Music was established by Julie and Louise Shand to run research based music classes for children and their parents and to offer workshops, seminars and professional development for teachers and professionals.
